Session
The Session is the ruling body of our Church. It consists of 9 members elected from and by the Congregation with the Pastor serving as Moderator. Three members are elected at the annual congregational meeting held in the late Fall for a term of 3 years from a slate of nominees selected by a nominating committee consisting of members of the Congregation at large, the Session, and the Deacons. Each member of the session normally accepts an area of church life to be responsible for. They may or may not serve as chairs of the major committees of the church. Meetings are held monthly and as occasion demands
The Clerk of Session is the secretary and the administrative officer of the Session. However, the Clerk serves the Church and Session in a broad array of tasks. The Clerk maintains the history of the faithfulness of a church through careful minutes and records. The Clerk should be interested and knowledgeable about Presbyterian polity, and along with the Moderator of the Session, is the liason between the Session and Presbytery. The Clerk should always strive to be a servant of the Session. The Clerk is also the continuing ecclesiastical officer of the Congregation. In that capacity, the Clerk has the responsibility of keeping the church records and making sure that all procedures in the Form of Government section of the Book of Order are followed. The Clerk has the responsibility to see that the Session fulfills its responsibility with regard to the worship service and the observance of the Sacraments. The Clerk should be a guardian of the polity of the church for the goal of furthering the ‘’Great Ends of the Church”.
