Let the first tone of the organ be a call to quiet meditation in which all may become aware of God’s presence, and lift up a prayer for yourself and for Faith Church.

Invocation
Hymn: # 267 “And Can It Be”
Psalter: Psalm 92: 1 - 8 (read responsively) Glenn Sparks
1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.
5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!
6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.
8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.
Prayer for Illumination Glenn Sparks
First Lesson: Titus 2: 11, 12 NIV Glenn Sparks
11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age
Anthem “Search Me, O God” Mark Hill
Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray.
Children’s Sermon
Second Lesson: II Corinthians 8: 6 - 7 NIV Glenn Sparks
6So we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. 7But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
Lector: “This is the Word of God.”
Congregation: “Thanks be to God for His Word.”
Hymn: See Insert “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
Sermon: Series: “Amazing Grace”

Worship
…is the quickening of conscience by God’s holiness;
the nourishment of mind with His truth;
the purifying of imagination by His beauty;
the opening of the heart to His love;
the surrender of the will to His purpose;
and all of this gathered up in adoration—
the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable, and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin.” William Temple
Welcome
To all who are weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are idle and look for service; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whosoever will come--this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Guests please sign our guest book and join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship.
Babysitting is available during worship for infants up to 2-1/2 years old in the room behind the balcony. Children ages 2-1/2 through 5 will be in the Pre-School Nursery in the Education Wing. School age children worship with their parents.
Mission Notes
Hope Clinic (Yucatan, Mexico)
Hope Clinic (Clinica Benefactora “La Esperanza”) and the Priscila Presbyterian Bible School were founded in the 1960s by a group of Presbyterian doctors, ministers and a missionary couple, Eula and Ernest Mathews. Our interest in these organizations started in the 1970s when a group of people from Faith Presbyterian Church went to the Yucatan to help build a small church there.
The purpose of Hope Clinic is to provide reasonably priced medical care for the poor residents of Yucatan villages. The goals of the clinic are to maintain a Christian atmosphere in the clinic and to deliver its services at the lowest possible prices.
Pricila Bible School (Yucatan, Mexico)
Priscila Presbyterian Bible School was established to give residential training to girls by providing a three-year course in basic and Christian education. This enables them to go back to their own communities and teach there. It has also established a Department of Music, teaching both vocal and instrumental music, which is open to non-boarding male and female students.

Music Notes
The prelude consists of two pieces that are loosely based on Lutheran hymns. They were written for aspiring organists who wanted to improve their pedal work. It is difficult to discern the chorale melody that is hidden in the intricate ornamentation.
Buxtehude was one of the most acclaimed organists and composers in the generation before Bach. His major organ works contain sections of great power and simplicity of tonality, of which this excerpt is a good representative example.
At its regular Presbytery meeting on September 22, 2007 at Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, The Reverend Doctor Stuart Robertson will officially be recognized as Pastor Emeritus in the Presbytery. This part of the agenda will commence at about 1:25pm, shortly after the lunch break. Members of the Congregation and friends are cordially invited to witness this event.
Faith Women will meet on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00pm at Nancy Moore’s home. Please come to the church parking lot between 6:45pm and 6:55pm for car pooling. Bring a small item to tell the group about. And bring a friend!
***Congregational Reflection Study to Start***
The Session has announced that the Congregational Reflection Study, needed to prepare for calling a new pastor will begin after Labor Day. Members and Friends of Faith Presbyterian Church are encouraged to participate in this Study in one of two ways: attend one of the three scheduled discussion sessions and fill out the study instrument during the discussion or file out the instrument without attending a discussion meeting and returning the completed instrument to the Church Office (there is basket on the table). Please pick up one of the instruments for each member of your family on the table next to the office. Regular and LARGE print copies are available. The discussion meetings will be Sunday evening September 9th and 16th at Faith Church, 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 11th at Westminister Village, 2741 North Salisbury Street, West Lafayette, IN. at 7:00 p.m. For information contact: Don Gentry, Study Coordinator.
