Invocation

Hymn # 465 “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above”

Psalter: Psalm 121 RSV (read responsively) Grieke Toebes
1I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come?
2My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
3He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.
4He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
7The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
8The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.

Prayer for Illumination Grieke Toebes

First Lesson: Revelations 21: 1 – 5 NIV Grieke Toebes
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
5He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Special Music

Children’s Sermon

Second Lesson: Revelations 19: 1, 6 - 9 NIV Grieke Toebes
1After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,…
6Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)
9Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!' " And he added, "These are the true words of God."

Lector: “This is the Word of God.”

Congregation: “Thanks be to God for His Word.”

Hymn # 620 “By the Sea of Crystal”

Sermon: Series “When the Silver Cord is Severed”
# 3 “What Will Entering Glory Be Like?” Pastor Ronald M. Green

Confession of Faith: Westminster Larger Catechism Q. 90

Question: What shall be done to the righteous at the day of judgment?
Answer: At the day of judgment, the righteous, being caught up to Christ in the clouds, shall be set on his right hand, and, there openly acknowledged and acquitted, shall join with him in the judging of reprobate angels and men; and shall be received into heaven, where they shall be fully and forever greed from all sin and misery; filled with inconceivable joy; made perfectly holy and happy both in body and soul, in the company of innumerable saints and angels, but especially in the immediate vision and fruition of God the Father, of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, to all eternity. And this is the perfect and full communion, which the members of the invisible le Church shall enjoy with Christ in glory, at the resurrection and day of judgment.

After the sermon children in grades K-6 may leave for children’s choir

Offertory “Bound for the Promised Land” Hugh S. Livingston
An American Folk Hymn

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan air and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

I am bound for the promised land,
I’m bound for the promised land.
Oh, who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

Response
We praise you, O God, our Redeemer, Creator;
In grateful devotion our tribute we bring.
We lay it before you, we kneel and adore you;
We bless your holy name, glad praises we sing.

Jacques Lemmens (Belglium, 1823-1881)

Worship
…is the quickening of conscience by God’s holiness;
the nourishment of mind with His truth;
the purifying of imagination by His beauty;
the opening of the heart to His love;
the surrender of the will to His purpose;
and all of this gathered up in adoration—
the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable, and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin.” William Temple

Welcome
To all who are weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are idle and look for service; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whosoever will come--this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Guests please sign our guest book and join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship.
Babysitting is available during worship for infants up to 2-1/2 years old in the room behind the balcony. Children ages 2-1/2 through 5 will be in the Pre-School Nursery in the Education Wing. School age children worship with their parents.

Purdue Crew
What we are doing is "renting" out our manual labor for people in the community. This is typically only advertised to Purdue Faculty, but I know that people would be interested in finding help with yard work. There is more information on our website if you visit http://www.boilerrowing.com/crew and click on "rent-a-rower" or you could e-mail me back at purdue.rentarower@gmail.com, purdue.rentarower@gmail.com
A little more information about our fundraiser. A person can "rent" a rower on one of two selected dates November 3rd or 11th. For each rower that the patron rents they will have that rower for up to 5 hours for a cost of $65. This is great if people in your community have large yards that need to be raked for the winter or if they have holes that need to be dug, or furniture that needs to be moved.

It’s that time again - Fall Clean Up Day

Saturday, November 3
8 am until noon

DONUTS, coffee and juice will be served at 8 am.

Some of the jobs we hope to accomplish are:

..dead heading flowers, perennials
..pruning bushes, trees where necessary (deadwood, etc.)
..weed and feed grassed areas
..last mow maybe
..disconnect hoses and winterize outside taps
..leaf raking/blowing
..gutter clean out
..the west and north outside walls of the sanctuary are getting pretty green so
we may pressure wash the lower areas (usually the worst) if the weather permits.

We will also be cleaning the chandelier in the sanctuary. Some Purdue students will be doing the ladder work, but we’ll need folks to actually clean the glass. There may also be some other small interior jobs to be done, but we don't have a list of them yet.

Everyone who comes should bring tools, garden equipment appropriate for the job he/she wishes to do.

If you can help out, please contact Pat Short (mpshort2@netscape.net or 743-3160) and let her know what you’d like to work on.

Come and have some fun with us, visit with friends and enjoy one of those last good fall days. Hope to see you there!
