Hymn # 376 “All Glory, Laud, and Honor”
Psalter: Psalm 118: 25 – 29 NIV (read responsively) Dan Trinkle
25 O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success.
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you.
27 The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.
29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Prayer for Illumination Dan Trinkle
First Lesson: Zechariah 9: 9 - 10 NIV Dan Trinkle
9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
Anthem “He Comes as King” Patrick M. Leibergen
Children’s Sermon
Second Lesson: Matthew 21: 1 - 14 NIV Dan Trinkle
1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."
4This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5"Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "
6The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. 8A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"
10When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?"
11The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."
12Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13"It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'"
14The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
Lector: “This is the Word of God.”
Congregation: “Thanks be to God for His Word.”

Worship
…is the quickening of conscience by God’s holiness;
the nourishment of mind with His truth;
the purifying of imagination by His beauty;
the opening of the heart to His love;
the surrender of the will to His purpose;
and all of this gathered up in adoration—
the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable, and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin.” -William Temple
Welcome
To all who are weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are idle and look for service; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whosoever will come--this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Guests please sign our guest book and join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship.
Babysitting is available during worship for infants up to
2-1/2 years old in the room behind the balcony. Children ages 2-1/2 through 5 will be in the Pre-School Nursery in the Education Wing. School age children worship with their parents.
Music Words
“Who Is He In Yonder Stall?”
Who is He in yonder stall, at whose feet the shepherds fall?
Who is He in deep distress, fasting in the wilderness?
'Tis the Lord, O wondrous story! '
Tis the Lord, the King of glory!
At His feet we humbly fall,
Crown Him! crown Him, Lord of all!
Who is He the people bless for His words of gentleness?
Who is He to whom they bring all the sick and sorrowing?.......
Who is He that stands and weeps
At the grave where Lazarus sleeps?
Who is He the gathering throng
Greet with loud triumphant song?......
Lo! at midnight, who is He who prays in dark Gethsemane?
Who is He on yonder tree, dies in grief and agony?.........
Who is He that from the grave
Comes to heal and help and save?
Who is He that from His throne
Rules through all the world alone?........
Mission Notes
Jack & Mary Anne Voelkel (IVCF)
We are in the lovely city of Medellín, Colombia, where both of us are teaching classes in the Biblical Seminary, which we enjoy doing once a year. It’s such a great privilege to come and share with students who will soon be pastors, many of them in dangerous situations.
This past year we have continued on with our normal projects:
• Mary Anne works half time for Inter Varsity in the area of stimulating prayer and spiritual formation. She has been busy with retreats and conferences as well as planning for future events. She provides intercessors to pray for training conferences and is pleased that individuals she has trained will be taking over the leadership she has given for several years, as of July 2008.
• Jack continues writing his two columns on the urbana.org web-site (Ask Jack; Great Cloud of Witnesses), as well as teaching two months in Colombia, and a volume of correspondence with both missionaries and Colombian leaders who seek his counsel.
Just recently, Jack has been asked to serve the Latin America Mission as Interim President, a duty he’ll assume as of October 9th. The present president is resigning and unexpectedly the candidate they had chosen backed out at the last minute. As a result, both of us will temporarily be moving to Miami in October. It goes without saying that we covet mightily your prayers for us as we take on this new challenge. It will undoubtedly involve both of us in much travel, as we visit missionaries on the various fields as well as represent the mission in churches and entities here in the U.S.
Scott & Kristin Livermore (Campus Crusade)
Scott and Kristin are affiliated with the Student Venture ministry of Campus Crusade. This coaching outreach assists local ministry leaders nationwide so that high school students may be reached with the good news of Jesus Christ. Scott has been in the process of putting together a Starter Handbook that will empower hundreds of workers to create movements of evangelism and discipleship among teenagers. At the present time the Starter Handbook is undergoing an intense editing process and has a December 2007 print date. Scott and Kristin live in Carmel, Indiana and work out the Great Lakes Regional Office in Indianapolis. They have four children, Melissa, Jessica, Daniel and Jonathan. Part of Scott’s new role will have him developing partnerships with Crusade‚s collegiate ministries. One such partnership being explored is with the Purdue group. Scott’s goal is to enlist Purdue students to begin an evangelism and discipleship ministry at one of the Lafayette area high schools.
