Welcome, Announcements, and Greet One Another
Invocation
Hymn # 428 “O Worship the King”
Psalter: Psalm 139: 7 - 14 NIV (read responsively)
Tom Van Horn
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,"
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Prayer for Illumination Tom Van Horn
First Lesson: I Corinthians 1: 4 - 17 NIV Tom Van Horn
4I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge— 6because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 7Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
10I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas"; still another, "I follow Christ."
13Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? 14I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. 16(Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Worship
…is the quickening of conscience by God’s holiness;
the nourishment of mind with His truth;
the purifying of imagination by His beauty;
the opening of the heart to His love;
the surrender of the will to His purpose;
and all of this gathered up in adoration—
the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable, and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin.” -William Temple

CALLING A FEW GOOD MEN AND WOMEN
Our Presbytery needs some volunteers who would be interested in serving on some Presbytery Committees.
NOW BEFORE YOUR BRAIN TURNS OFF BECAUSE YOU HAVE HEARD THE WORD “COMMITTEE” please reflect that the output of these committees can be no more than the input and if we do not want to input we may very well not be happy with the output.
I understand that Grieke Toebes, Nancy and Dennis Dunn among others, have served ably on these committees and would probably (maybe not) be glad to talk to you about them.
Jurgen Honig has the 2 page form that need to be sent in to Presbytery by JUNE 10. He will be glad (for sure) to give you the application.
Below is the listing of the opportunities:
Church council
Administrative Ministry
Church Development Ministry
Committee on Preparation for Ministry
Committee on Representation
Nominating Committee
Permanent Judicial Committee
Synod commissioner
Committee on Ministry
Geneva Center Ministry
Communications Ministry
Where most needed
Thank you for thinking about this, and Session thanks you too, Jane Stewart
