Pastor's Pen
April was a great month at Faith Church. We started it on April first with our Maundy Thursday Service. Several of our members read the Scriptures and the Choir did an excellent job presenting several anthems. We concluded that service with celebrating Communion by intinction. It is a real joy for this pastor to give communion to each person individually. They (you) come forward from ages 5 to beyond 85. It gives me a real first hand and comprehensive experience of who we are as a congregation. I thank Elder Jane Stewart for assisting me in celebrating the Sacrament that evening.
We had about two dozen attendees at our two Good Friday Services. These have been quiet times to reflect on the suffering of our Lord.
On Easter we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord with yet another celebration of the Lord’s Supper. After Worship we had our annual Easter Brunch and Easter Egg Hunt. We thank the Congregational Life Committee for organizing and serving the Brunch, and we thank the Youth Group for preparing and leading the Easter Egg Hunt.
On April 18th the Deacons presented our annual Mission Fair. We had two guests present at the Mission Fair: Patty Callahan presenting LUM and Todd Westbrook presenting Trinity Missions. (Joe Micon was present earlier in the morning for those of us who were here before Worship). The rest of the missions were well represented by literature and some of our Deacons. We thank our Deacons for their leadership in our participation in various Missions.
On April 25th we celebrated Youth Sunday. All of the members of our Youth Group participated. Reflections or Meditations were offered by our four graduating seniors: Adam Beasley, Graham Bethel, Olivia Lockwood, and Doug Varys. I thank them for their leadership of Worship and their participation in our Youth Group.
Our activities for May will begin on May First with a Spring Clean Up from 8:00 AM to Noon. We hope you can come and help spruce up our building and property.
May 23rd will be the last day that our Sunday School will have classes until late August.
Also on May 23rd, the Blythes will visit us during Worship and remind us of what they do.
On May 30th the Steubings will visit for the same purpose.
For those of you who have Children, Grandchildren, or neighbors with children, our Vacation Bible School will be held from June 21st to June 25th. We have an excellent staff and group of helpers lined up, but you would be welcome to volunteer. Our leader this year is Barb Knox. I invite you to invite all the children in your life to be a part of our VBS.
I know that some of you will be beginning your Summer vacations before June, so I want to end by relating a conversation I recently had with a lady who has been unchurched for most of her life. I was telling her about some of the things I was planning to do on my Summer Vacation and she asked “So when a Pastor takes vacation, does he stop reading the Bible and praying and being nice to people?” After I finished chuckling, I replied that I hoped not. But as we all plan to take vacations, I hope we take our Christian commitments and devotional practices with us. As you prepare to be away, I want to wish you a good time and remind you to gather with other Christians for Worship wherever you are.
Your Pastor,
Dave Horner

The session is pleased to report that an anonymous gift is funding transportation to Sunday morning worship services from Westminster.
The transportation is provided by Lafayette Limo in a van with a lift that accommodates walkers and wheel chairs. Residents may board at 9:00 a.m. at the front entrance of Westminster (Mendelsohn Hall). The van departs from Faith Church at 11:00 a.m.
We will add a stop at University Place as soon as requested by members or friends residing there.
Call Dave McKinnis at 427-7292 or Lois Wark at 743-1903 with any questions.
Flowers on Sundays
Could you bring flowers for the sanctuary some Sunday morning? It could be in honor of a special occasion or a special person, or just because.
If you are interested, please contact Donna Lofgren.
Thank You
A big thank you to the Deacons who arranged displays of the Missions supported by Faith church.
It was also good to see our congregation stop by the displays to ask questions. Faith members need to know more about these missions and those that have made it their life's work to serve others here and around the world.

A huge banner....The LORD Has Risen Indeed!...again greeted Easter
worshippers as they moved from the sanctuary into the Fellowship Hall for
Faith's Easter Brunch. The banner was the work of the last years Youth Group
and kindly put back up by Steve Varys. The banners by the road with the same
theme were put up two weeks before Easter to invite the community to the
Easter celebration. Many people helped with the decoration and coordination
of the brunch It began Saturday morning with decorating the Fellowship Hall
with the flowers and flowering tree branches from the Stewart's. The
traditional lamb cakes were made by the Bergmann's (Mayfawny, Sophia & Sue)
and the Latour's (Chase, Sawyer & Amber) and Peggy Housley this year. The
many varied dishes were provided by the generous and talented cooks at
Faith. You might have noticed a theme "deviled eggs in plenty". In past
years they had disappeared so quickly we made a specific request for them
this year and we all enjoyed the results. As is said, "Last but not least",
the Fellowship Hall and kitchen clean-up was completed and back to its
original state as the result of the many helping hands. Thanks everyone for
you assistance. It was a blessed day to celebrate ....The LORD has risen
Indeed!
