What you can expect on your first visit
Welcome to Faith Presbyterian Church! We encourage you to take part in our Sunday morning service at 9:30 to 10:30 am followed by Church School for all ages from 11:00 to 12:00 am. From 10:30 to 11:00 am there is a time for fellowship over coffee or juice with fellow members and guests of our Church. It is a time for catching up with old friends and making new friends.
We are located a few miles west of Purdue West on Highway 26. You cannot miss the classic New England architecture of the sanctuary with its dominant steeple and the friendly red doors as pictured on our web site Home Page. A map showing the location of Faith Presbyterian Church is available at the map link below.
Upon arriving at our Church parking lot you will note several handicap parking places immediately to the right of the main entrance facing our fellowship hall. Use one of these places if you are in need of a parking place in close proximity to the entrance. Please sign the guest book as you enter the Church and are greeted.
We have adult supervised care for infants and children ages 2 1/2 -5. Baby-sitting is available for infants up to 30 months in the nursery behind the balcony and children ages 2 1/2 -5 are in Pre-school Nursery in the Education Wing. An usher or a greeter will be pleased to guide you to the appropriate facility. School age children worship with their parents in the regular service. If you are hearing impaired let the usher know so you can be provided with a hearing assistance unit.
You will be provided with a bulletin giving the The Order of Worship of God. The order of worship will give you information on hymns that will be sung from the hymnals located in the back of the pew in front of you. The Bibles that we read out of during the service also are located there. The bulletin also gives the title of the sermon and the anthems that will be sung by the Adult Choir and, on occasion, the Joyful Noise, our children’s choir. Announcements are also provided in the bulletin on forthcoming activities of our Church, special needs, the weekly calendar, and those that we wish to remember in our prayers. During the church service there also is a special time for oral announcement of joys and concerns that we wish to share with our fellow worshipers. The Pastor includes these in our common prayer. On the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions the Lord’s Supper is served by a group of elders to all who are believers in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We are particularly proud of the excellent pipe-organ music that accompanies our service and the consistently wonderful anthems that are sung by the church choirs.
After the service we welcome you to chat with our Pastor in the Narthex and members and friends in the Fellowship Hall that is adjacent to the sanctuary. Coffee is served there with ‘goodies’ on special occasions. Children and youth join together for juice. Please request the assistance of ushers in finding the appropriate room for you and your children in the Educational Wing adjacent to the Fellowship Hall. The youth (Middle and High School students) of the church generally meet on Sunday evenings or at other times for special events. Prayer groups, bible study sessions, and a variety of other activities are offered on a regular basis. We invite you to participate.
We pride ourselves on being a ‘friendly’ church and we want you to also find it that way. There are numerous activities for serving the Church, both our local church and greater Church, and for being good neighbors to those around us. Participating in these activities as described elsewhere on this web site and in our monthly newsletter is a rapid and self-satisfying way to meet and become acquainted with other members and friends of Faith Presbyterian Church. You may request that your name be placed on the mailing list for our newsletter through a link on the Home Page or by contacting the church office.
If you have questions regarding Faith Presbyterian Church or participating in our activities or attending our services, please call the Church office (743-3683) or send us an email (office@faithpresbyterian.org) . Your question will be directed to the appropriate person and you will receive an answer promptly.
