Church Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary


  • 20 hours per week (salary competitive to local market)

Description Summary:

  • report to Lead Pastor

  • provide administrative, business and secretarial service for the church and engage in a ministry that offers an atmosphere of friendliness, competence, and willingness to interact with and provide service to a great variety of people

Key Duties:

  • produce a weekly bulletin and a monthly newsletter

  • assist Treasurer in performing bookkeeping and accounting services (does not include calculating payroll or handling of contributions)

  • administrative support to the Pastor and Session (church board)

  • coordinate the work of contractors, orders supplies, and equipment

  • prepare monthly financial reports and yearly activity reports for denomination

  • maintain church calendar

Position Requirements:

  • a personal faith in Jesus Christ and participation in a local church

  • excellent oral and written communication skills

  • computer expertise and proficiency 

  • strong organizational skills 

  • ability to work independently

  • web maintenance abilities

  • electronic accounting skills are expected

  • work experience relevant to position

Desired Skills (must be willing to learn): 

  • software skills for accounting, scheduling, and database management

  • Microsoft Office including Publisher
